Nova is a 3,000 sq.ft. home in Bengaluru created for a couple returning to India after seven years in Singapore. Their brief was clear: a home that felt minimal and functional, distinctly Indian in spirit, and free from anything excessive. With the homeowners able to visit only briefly each month, the project was shaped through a highly considered design process where every material, finish and spatial decision was resolved with clarity before it reached site.

The design works with the apartment’s generous natural light, open layout and 11th-floor views rather than competing with them. A continuous timber ceiling detail defines the entry and dining areas, while a red brick wall, deep seating and a custom teakwood TV unit with hand-turned spindles give the living room warmth and character. The kitchen and dining spaces connect through a partial opening, with patterned backsplash tiles offering a subtle reference to Indian craft. Across the bedrooms and study, rattan, wood, stucco and louvered details create individual moods while maintaining a restrained material language. At its heart, Nova is less about making a statement and more about creating the feeling of finally coming home.
